How to set up Comcast IMAP email on iOS

Comcast is a US based global telecommunication, broadcasting and Cable TV Company. It is one of the largest companies which are also involving in home internet services, Cable TV and home telephone.

They offer an email service called Comcast email to their subscribers which is very popular in the USA and European countries. It is not easy to access the Comcast account so you want to sync it either with your mobile or with your iPad etc. so that you can access the Comcast email from anywhere, anytime.

 This tutorial will tell you how to set up your Comcast email account with your iPhone.

1. By default, if you sign up with the Comcast initially you will be on POP3, as ios works with IMAP only you need to request an IMAP account from Comcast. Remember, no need to call or to make any kind of paperwork etc. Simply go to the settings or Preferences which you use to access your POP3 account. Choose new account as IMAP. Fill the complete details out there, now you should see two separate Comcast accounts one is POP3 and the new one is IMAP which you have just created. Remember, the option to delete all the read emails is disabled.

    

2. Go to the “settings” of your iPhone.

3. Click on “Mail”

4. Click on “Accounts”

5. Now click on “Add Account”

6. Click on “other”

7. Click on “Add Mail Account”

8. Type your desired name and the Comcast details.

9. Enable the “Mail” and “Notes”

10. Now you shall see the new account added in the “Accounts” section. Go to the “Mail client” If it starts retrieving the emails then you have configured the Comcast mail correctly. If in case you see some error or you aren’t able to retrieve any emails then you will have to do some manual tweaks. Make sure the password authentication is turned on, the server port is 465 along with SSL is enabled inside outgoing server which is smtp.comcast.net

11. Same as with the incoming server, the port should be 993. Password authentication should be enabled along with the SSL.

Once you are done just make sure you have started retrieving the old emails. Once you get the old emails into your IMAP profile configured in your iPhone delete the old POP3 profile from your Comcast account.
